Building Families & CWM
Here Ian and Barbara join with other resource people to work for Council for World Mission, a global mission 'enabler'.
CWM brings resources and national churches together to share information and resources. This time NZ had two sets of resource people, Jill Kayser from the PCANZ, and Ian & Barbara Hooker from the Congregational Union of NZ.
This possibly annual event is titled "Mission with Children" and is concerned about the plight of children in many countries. Mr Sidupta Singh of the Presbyterian church of India shared about the work those churches are doing to fight the epidemic of child trafficking in that country.
Not only was it a time to learn from one another, but also a time to share our different cultures. However we all shared one culture, that of our faith. It was amazing to hear the class break into song, the words had travelled all over the world. We also thoroughly enjoyed and were amazed at the Samoan cultural 'feast' we were given by the students at Malua Theological College, and the evening with the tourists.
The Consultation lasted 8 days, most of that time spent in the meeting room. However there was a day spent visiting local children's work in Samoa near Apia, and all the ordained ministers were expected to preach at a church on the Sunday morning.
This was the night we spent with the tourists enjoying a meal and the show. Stunning.
Thanks to our hosts for such a wonderful time
