Setting clear limits

Setting limits must start at early childhood. These early limits or boundaries are around the daily routine, of feeding, bathing, waking, sleeping. We cannot expect a very young child to manage his/her day for many years, but they need the consistency of a daily routine to help them establish order for themselves later on.

A child who has no limits before school will find going to school very difficult, and won't want to follow instructions.
This problem gets worse as demands increase from school and later, work.

Parents do their children a favour when they instill limits in their children from the start. These young people find it much easier to comply with the demands of study and employment, managing money, overseas travel, etc. In fact their world expands as they get older.

A child who cannot control him/herself at the age of 5, may struggle through life, with society putting the ultimate limit on them - prison.

Participants are encouraged to maintain age appropriate limits for their children, or begin the process of putting them in place
